Epoxy resins, also known as polyepoxides, are a class of reactive prepolymers and polymers which contain epoxide groups. Epoxy is used in the construction of airplanes and cars, among other applications. Epoxy is most commonly used as an industrial-strength adhesive, however, it can be used for a variety of substances made of a certain chemical compound, from paints to plastics.
Epoxy resins are used for protective coating of oil and gas pipes to prevent corrosion, production of paints, adhesive, floor covering, reinforced containers with glass textile, polymer concretes used for buildings and bridges construction. One of vast application of this material is producing adhesives which are formulated from epoxy resin. The adhesive usually contains epoxy resin, curing agent, modifiers, fillers etc. These high-performance adhesives are used in the construction of aircraft, automobiles, bicycles, boats, golf clubs, skis, snowboards, and other applications where high strength bonds are required. Epoxy adhesives can be developed to suit almost any application. They can be used as adhesives for wood, metal, glass, stone, and some plastics.
