Urea, also known as Carbamide, is an organic compound with chemical formula CO(NH2)2. This amide has two NH2 groups joined by a carbonyl functional group. It is produced by the reaction of ammonia with carbon dioxide. Urea granule is a colourless, crystalline substance that melts at 132.7° C and decomposes before boiling.
Urea has important uses as a fertilizer and feed supplement. Urea fertilizer can improve the quality of soil, provide nitrogen to plants, and increase the yield of crops.
